Oh my gosh!! When I was contacted to photograph a surprise proposal, I was thrilled! I dreamed up a beautiful plan and in my mind's eye, it involved dreamy beautiful sunset and warm glowing light.
Fast forward to Saturday and Mother Nature handed us what can only be described as a nightmare of a forecast. Now in normal photographer world, this is a definite reschedule, but this proposal was going to happen come hell or high-water. or snow. or 50 MPH wind gusts, or rain... We pulled up to the firehouse where we were meeting the happy couple and low and behold mixed with the gross rain and wind, was actual big fat sloppy snowflakes. Courtney and I get out of the car to great Josh and we also find out a fire call has just gone out! OH! This poor GUY!! We had to stand around and chat and not look nervous or let anything accidentally slip out.
The firemen finally leave and we spend a little time taking portraits among the trucks and equipment. On the way to the second location, poor Amber gives up on her hopes that a proposal was happening today and texts her Aunt that he wasn't proposing this time. (hehe)
We head out to the fairgrounds because that is the only place I can think of that is private, blocking the wind (sort of) and the rain. I wanted both cameras running so we decided Courtney was going to play the student and she nailed her part. Not only did she play the part well, she even interjected questions when I was setting up the moment to throw Amber off. She did soooo good!
I handed Amber and Josh each a chalkboard and told them to write their favorite thing about each other on them. She wrote 'your laugh' and he wrote 'Marry Me?'. On the count of Three... AHHHHH!!! it was SOOO exciting and awesome to be a part of the beginning of their lives!
Congratulations, AMBER AND JOSH! Let the wedding planning begin!!
